The football team will be a work in progress with some of the departures being so new. We have an EDGE guy coming this weekend.breadysmith wrote: ↑April 18th, 2024, 12:10 pmThere is some good transfer news! Share some of the good vibes with the football team now.

Re: Aubin Gateretse
I think he would have the chance to start at the 5 so that would be an upgrade over what Kalifa could have done.

Re: Aubin Gateretse
Based on his numbers i think it would be a little bit of Sakho and Great's replacement . Seems like he is skilled around the basket as well as a good rim protector.

Does Fish move to the 4 in that scenario assuming Osobor leaves?

Obviously great is a “great” loss if true but really liking potential options and depth here

Re: Aubin Gateretse
I still like the idea of having Mostafa on the team, so we would Johnson, Gateretse, Templin, and Mostafa as the bigs. I have not a lot of faith Burris and Jackson Grant at this point in time.

Re: Aubin Gateretse
Does this mean we would get Swenson also, or has that ship already sailed with signing the Queens PG?

Re: Aubin Gateretse
We don't need Swenson. We got Albury. Both Swenson and Albury are 1 year guys that want to start. I'm guessing Swenson went to UCSB because he knew we were prioritizing Albury.

Re: Aubin Gateretse
I like the idea of paring Fish and Gateretse as well. I think Fish is a sleeping giant who admitted on the Unequaled podcast to having confidence issues in the past. Calhoun is going to put in the time to develop Fish. Time that Danny wasn’t willing to put in. That TCU performance will become more of the regular output for Fish. Just needs a coach to believe in him, not just in words but to actually let him work through it on the court during games.Aggie4L1fe wrote: ↑April 18th, 2024, 12:51 pm1 Albery

Re: Aubin Gateretse
I think Alberry and Masons styles are going to compliment each other extremely well, too. I think getting that lineup going on the 3 will be something else, too, and supposedly Calhoun is the man to do ithipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑April 18th, 2024, 12:55 pmI like the idea of paring Fish and Gateretse as well. Brown and Javon were 2 of our 3 top 3pt% shooters (with Ian 38%). We will have to fill that hole. I 100% believe fish could be one of those guys - who else? Mason and Josh were 30% and 27%.

Amen! I love Uduje. He is to me what Shulga is to @SLB. He is long and athletic, can shoot, drive, and play with his back to the basket. IMO, he is extremely underrated. The dude needs to be completely unleashed.

Schools like us it’s easier to compete with basketball. We don’t have the pockets or resources to compete on highest levels with football. We are definitely lagging even in conference. Football has 85 scholarships vs 13 for basketball.
Coach Saben said he had enough of this NIL world I know football coaches are well compensated but can’t see much enjoyment anymore for them. Constant recruiting and roster turnover. HIGH STRESS

This seems like a very solid pickup. Great job to Calhoun and staff to get it done. Seems like he can fill part of the Great/Sakho production from a points and defense perspective.
