Jake Sampson - Umpqua CC
The dude shot lights out and is a huge Aggie. He still has a couple of years of eligibility left and would add to our perimeter shooting. He is currently taking a medical redshirt at Westminister now, used to lead the entire NJCAA in three-point percentage (57%) and is sixth in makes.

Re: Jake Sampson - Umpqua CC
the Juco Sniper. He is medical redshirting but he would be an amazing addition to the team. He would also fit calhouns system nice with the double screen. Big body, good frame, I would give him a call

Watching his tape with Calhouns system and off ball screens he could thrive. Should get a look.

Re: Jake Sampson - Umpqua CC
I can honestly say he is the best pure high school shooter I have ever seen and I’ve watched thousands of high school games. Would he be able to defend? Probably not. Would he create his own shot? Hard no. Can he shoot the lights out? Hell yes. I have zero skin in the game. This is 1000% an objective post from a huge high school basketball fan.

Sounds like the guy from Oakland that went off against Kentucky in the tourney.FeartheFro wrote: ↑April 19th, 2024, 2:59 pmI can honestly say he is the best pure high school shooter I have ever seen and I’ve watched thousands of high school games. Re: Jake Sampson - Umpqua CC
If he’s a huge Aggie fan at the least he could be a great locker room presence. Seems like a really solid choice to fill a walk on spot. Aggie fan who led JUCO in 3% why not give him a spot on the bench.

This is an ideal player for us to pursue, and I brought this name in an earlier thread.

Jake Is true blooded aggie and shares that passion with the rest of us fans. This guy might be good but he is the type to bounce after a good year

Re: Jake Sampson - Umpqua CC
Dude is an absolute sniper! He would be exactly what we need as a team, an elite 3-point shooter. I’m also pretty sure he played on the same AAU team as Mason so that’d be an instant connection! We need to figure out a way to have coach reach out to him!

Dallin Hall was also on that team. Get the Band back together?Hunt3rRoberts wrote: ↑April 19th, 2024, 3:10 pmDude is an absolute sniper! I do think the team next year needs shooting (assuming we don't get Wynott). It seems worth bringing in a guy maybe deficient in other areas but can really shoot.

I got about two minutes into that video and all I could think about was "San Diego State doesn't defend by leaving a guy to spot up with nobody within 20 feet of him and then just run at him as their defensive strategy".

I have been under the impression that both Calhoun and aggies22 are happily married to their respective wives.

My source says that Aggies22 might whisper into Calhoun’s ear at times. Not sure who to trust more.

Re: Jake Sampson - Umpqua CC
That's a bit of an exaggeration of this kid's game. The fact is, he can hit the three. He's got the accuracy, so now he can develop a quicker shot. Plus, a lot of threes are largely uncontested. Good 3pt defensive teams might work him, but we couldn't shoot the 3 even when uncontested. This kid is already upgrade. Besides, snipers who can drain long contested 3's off of a curl or screen at a 50% clip are taken.

I didn't say anything about the kid's game, my critique was of the defense I saw in the video. If the kid can shoot like that with an athletic 6'4" 215 lb defender in his chest - sign him up.AggieDad wrote: ↑April 19th, 2024, 4:49 pmThat's a bit of an exaggeration of this kid's game. Re: Jake Sampson - Umpqua CC
Huh? Of course you did. You implied his shooting prowess is less impressive to you because the defense he's facing in the video plays "20 feet off of him." But this is beside my point, which is there is always room for a 3pt sharp shooter on a team even if all he can do is sneak open or get caught alone in the corner and drop a 3. Maybe he only plays 10-15 minutes a game, but you run a play for a kid like that when you need a 3. Or, the defense has to play him legit, instead of hanging off and stacking the middle or ganging another player. I'm not saying he's a shoe-in, but I think dismissing his clear shooting ability unless he can jack a 3 with a 6'4" 215 lb defender in his chest is a miss.Yossarian wrote: ↑April 19th, 2024, 5:03 pmI didn't say anything about the kid's game, my critique was of the defense I saw in the video. Re: Jake Sampson - Umpqua CC
Would be cool as a walk-on, but there’s probably a zero percent chance Calhoun offers a scholarship to a guy redshirting at a Division II school no matter how much of an Aggie he might be.
