Re: Jayan Walker
Yeah this is odd to push away local kids that were good commits for East coast guys without other offers.bluegrouse wrote: ↑April 21st, 2024, 6:30 pm
Doesn’t look like Calhoun is shying away from high school kids.

When we see small pieces of information in regards to an overall larger plan, it can seem short sighted, but in the end, it’ll work outLarryTheAggie wrote: ↑April 21st, 2024, 6:32 pmYeah this is odd to push away local kids that were good commits for East coast guys without other offers.bluegrouse wrote: ↑April 21st, 2024, 6:30 pm

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Re: Jayan Walker
So both these guys have other offers, but we look like far and away the best offer for either guy.
While I wasn’t super amped about any of the incoming freshmen Sprinkle had committed, I don’t like putting a lot of resources into HS kids without Utah ties. Higher chance of bouncing after one good season and/or getting homesick and leaving due to culture shock. Which is to say nothing about the high chance of them busting given they are high school school recruits with low major offers. Strikes me as about the riskiest, lowest upside player archetype we could recruit. Calhoun’s the one paid to build a team, so I’ll trust him.
Setting all that aside and watching highlights, I am a lot higher on Kiir working at this level than Jayan.

My take is both trust Calhoun and question on cleaning house on the local recruits.bluegrouse wrote: ↑April 21st, 2024, 6:35 pmThat’s my first reaction as well but I’m going to wait and see what happens.LarryTheAggie wrote: ↑April 21st, 2024, 6:32 pmYeah this is odd to push away local kids that were good commits for East coast guys without other offers.bluegrouse wrote: ↑April 21st, 2024, 6:30 pm

When we say local recruits we’re talking just Barnes right?SLB wrote: ↑April 21st, 2024, 6:37 pmMy take is both trust Calhoun and question on cleaning house on the local recruits.bluegrouse wrote: ↑April 21st, 2024, 6:35 pmThat’s my first reaction as well but I’m going to wait and see what happens.LarryTheAggie wrote: ↑April 21st, 2024, 6:32 pmYeah this is odd to push away local kids that were good commits for East coast guys without other offers.bluegrouse wrote: ↑April 21st, 2024, 6:30 pm

Re: Jayan Walker
Rumor was Barnes was offered PWO previously but Calhoun wouldn’t commit the NIL money required to cover the expenses.
I thought Cox would’ve been on scholarship but not sure

I’m confused. How much control does Calhoun have over the collective and where the money goes?MetsJetsAggies wrote: ↑April 21st, 2024, 9:42 pmRumor was Barnes was offered PWO previously but Calhoun wouldn’t commit the NIL money required to cover the expenses.

Re: Jayan Walker
His OTE highlights are nice.
Say what you want about OTE but those rosters are absolutely star studded, and even though the league hasn’t existed for long it has already produced some star level NBA talent.
I personally like the potential pick up, good replacement for when Josh graduates.

Re: Jayan Walker
Agree with this take. Kid looks to have potential and I’d be excited to get him in Logan playing for the Aggies. I don’t know that we have a better shot at keeping a local kid vs. not. Everyone will want theirs if they can get it. They gotta show out first. Might as well be for us.BasketballAgg wrote: ↑April 21st, 2024, 11:00 pmHis OTE highlights are nice.

Re: Jayan Walker
Keep in mind that both of these 2024's that posted are ONLY offers. They both posted that they are "Blessed to receive a Division 1 offer from Utah State." Notice also that he includes six coaches in his tweet.
This is essentially code for thank you for the offer Utah State, BUT I'm going to include all of my coaches who have D1 coaches/assistants following them on this tweet and hope this post about getting a D1 offer from a good program like Utah State gets more schools to want to offer me.

Re: Jayan Walker
That’s a very good mid major offer list, some that really stick out are High Point, Kennesaw State, and James Madison.aggies22 wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2024, 9:36 amJayan Walker 6'6" 190 (NR) - CG - Combine Academy, NC

Re: Jayan Walker
And then we offer and watch the other offers flow in, 22 has pointed this out so many times in football. It happens in basketball tooBasketballAgg wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2024, 9:43 amThat’s a very good mid major offer list, some that really stick out are High Point, Kennesaw State, and James Madison.aggies22 wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2024, 9:36 amJayan Walker 6'6" 190 (NR) - CG - Combine Academy, NC

Re: Jayan Walker
His offer list is similar to Templin which is a good sign because good mid-majors think that he is good.
