If you grew up in Cache Valley, you certainly know who I am talking about, and can appreciate this:

I grew-up in CV and then left in 1989, and I have never heard of this Umpire???????

Guess I am too old on this one??

Love me some Hubba!

He got hit in the nuts with a foul ball off the plate. After he had gathered himself for a minute I asked him if he was okay. His reply, "that's debatable" became an instant classic.

I guess I should have added: "... and as long as you are not as old as dirt." ;)

I was playing little league ball in 1989, and my guess is Hubba was around then too.

That brought back some good memories. His basketball calls were even better than his baseball calls. I think players were tempted to travel just so they could hear Hubba's travel call.

Good laugh, when I played City hoops and softball we had some great times. He always told me he gave me a few calls. He then went to ref some of my daughters games. Good times always made me laugh. A real one of kind!! Is he still around.?

Funny guy. Gets frustrating when you're in a tough game though.

Loved it! He still umpires the softball leagues. He umpired a game I played out in Smithfield last year.

Did he ref Rec League Softball in Hyrum and Basketball in Logan? I remember the guy, but that would be the only way I would have had him officiate my games. Maybe my brother's HS team came down to Logan for a tourney or something?
