Sleeping with someone is not a fireable offense in this country. Unless that somebody is a minor.Aggie_Watch wrote: ↑March 14th, 2023, 8:41 pmLooks like she violated the conduct code of her contract. Now if there is proof that she was/is abusive to the players, you may be onto something.

Re: USU Women's Bball
I do know last year players went to Bovee and made complaints regarding coaches behavior. They considered it to be borderline abusive and hartwell ignored it. In fact Kayla demanded to know what players and coaches complained.LarryTheAggie wrote: ↑March 14th, 2023, 9:11 pmSleeping with someone is not a fireable offense in this country. How good is attendance when the team is winning? In Men's basketball she'd obviously be fired already, but in a nonrevenue sport I can see the dollars and cents reasons for keeping her. Hopefully they hire a more qualified candidate the next time around.

Re: USU Women's Bball
Hard to know, when they haven’t won in a while. New Mexico and Wyoming pull in lots of fans. Fresno somehow ranked 3rd in attendance in the conference year, and they also had a pretty pitiful season. UNLV was able to start drawing crowds since they kept winning. seems like it would be doable to draw crowds of 1-2K if there was some more winning and a more interesting product on the floor.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑March 15th, 2023, 11:44 amHow good is attendance when the team is winning? noticed an opening for an assistant coach posted 4 weeks ago. Wonder which assistant is leaving and why? par for the course in Ard’s tenure, ain’t it…

Well let’s see. In the 33 years of the program’s history, we have zero NCAA appearances and two WNIT appearances. We’ve had exactly one (1) 20-plus win season ever and since the reinstatement of the program 20 years ago we’ve had six seasons over .500.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote:How good is attendance when the team is winning? So it’s really tough to say, to be honest.

If Odom leaves maybe we can use some of the buyout money and get rid of Ard.

As great as that sounds, that would require our administration to give a single solitary damn about the women't team, which it has proven over and over again that it does not.Aggie_Watch wrote: ↑March 25th, 2023, 9:01 amIf Odom leaves maybe we can use some of the buyout money and get rid of Ard.

Re: USU Women's Bball
Literally all we have to do is give written instructions to simply not lose ti Dixie State by 100, which is reasonable and well within her job description, and then we could fire her for cause, simple!

She wasn’t particularly talented but still losing someone who played a decent sized role hurts. Wonder if anyone else will join her in the portal.stang wrote: ↑March 28th, 2023, 2:49 pmWell it would certainly be tough to be worse, but never say never.
Also, what is the likelihood of attracting talent? Had a hard time doing that last season, and Ard was signing players up until August. can’t get any easier when you have had a season like this past one.

Re: USU Women's Bball
I have to believe it will be very, very difficult to recruit anyone to the program right now. It's hard to imagine anyone with any other D1 opportunities choosing to go to a 4-win team that turns over most of its roster every offseason.aggie276 wrote: ↑March 28th, 2023, 6:02 pmShe wasn’t particularly talented but still losing someone who played a decent sized role hurts. Re: USU Women's Bball
Yeah. Precisely. Maybe some people in the portal who are just desperate for a landing place, anywhere. Guessing she’ll have to dip into juco or grab some unsigned freshman who will come in pretty inexperienced. it will be refreshing to have a change in coaching staff if they can bring in someone who actually can build the culture of the program as well as make it incrementally more successful (eventually and hopefully).stang wrote: ↑March 28th, 2023, 8:06 pmI have to believe it will be very, very difficult to recruit anyone to the program right now. So how many players are left? 4 or 5? and the portal is still open. Not quite sure how they are going to manage to fill the roster, no successful track record to boast.Aggie_Watch wrote: ↑April 6th, 2023, 2:55 pmlooks like Tamiah, their best returner, is in the portal. So basically a complete reset for the third-straight year.

Re: USU Women's Bball
And not only the financial piece but now Bovee has to find a new men’s coach (which is super important, absolutely), so she’ll just continue to run the program into the ground, again.stang wrote: ↑April 6th, 2023, 4:44 pmBy my count, that's five returning players with zero returning starters.aggie276 wrote: ↑April 6th, 2023, 4:38 pmSo how many players are left? 4 or 5? and the portal is still open. Re: USU Women's Bball
If anyone is interested, this is what they (currently, barring any other transfers out), return next year. 14.3 points per game, combined. I don’t even think they can pull someone from the portal that averages over 14 points per game by themselves. not with Kayla Ards track record.

Re: USU Women's Bball
That is currently more than the men's team. The men's team could legitimately not return any scoring production or any player that actually played for them this last year.aggie276 wrote: ↑April 6th, 2023, 7:52 pmIf anyone is interested, this is what they (currently, barring any other transfers out), return next year. 14.3 points per game, combined. Lol if the men's team had a season anywhere NEAR as miserable as the past five WBB seasons, this board would rally and gather pitchforks and burn the spectrum to the ground out of anger.
