Volleyball has been a ton of fun this year, this team can definitely find a way to win! Proud of them for getting the win today in dramatic fashion.

In response to some other posts on this thread I’ve heard that there’s some sort of issue with replay cameras or something that is making it look like the match against byu will be in the Estes and not the spectrum. Hopefully that’s not the case.

Just happened to accidentally go to Big Blue. It is nice to read about VB at USU . It is growing!

I wish our volleyball venue seated like 2500. I like it to be smaller than the Spectrum since a packed house feels better, but 1400 will be too small if this success keeps up.

Yeah, that was pretty short sighted to make a new arena that small.

And to make it not accomodate women's basketball. Truly one of the stupidest things Scott Barnes did at USU, it's pretty inexplicable.

I think the big problem was that the main concern and reason we were building the facility for was somewhere for the men's and women's basketball teams to practice with scheduling conflicts with the Spectrum, and a home venue for volleyball was secondary.

Besides, what makes it impossible for women's bb home games to be played there? i understand the scheduling conflict in November when the sports are overlapping. Even with the WBB locker room where the girls keep their stuff being in the Spectrum, I don't see any reason why the girls can't dress in our Women's VB locker room, with the opponent dressing in the same room the VB opponent uses. Is there something sacred about the volleyball lounge that even girls, who go to our school and are, well, girls like our volleyball players can't use it? Volleyball refs need a dressing room so letting WBB refs use that shouldnt be a problem either. Maybe a problem for TV coverage which we shouldn't have to worry about right now. Even if it wouldn't work for a whole season, it should work for some games.

I was just looking at the schedule -they play at College Station, TX this week - Thurs vs A&M, Fri vs TCU, and Sat vs Northern Iowa. Another 3 game setting to hit 3 teams in one weekend.

https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/volleybal ... a-rankings
Yesterday's Top 25, USU is receiving 11 votes -"32nd" if you will.
Texas A&M is receiving 7 votes "tied for 34th"

A&M is 5-0 having beat Omaha (3-1), Pepperdine (3-0), Wright St (3-2), Bowling Green (3-0), and Loyola Chicago (3-0)
TCU is 2-3 wins over Georgia (3-0) and North Florida (3-1) and losses to #10 Minnesota (1-3) #1 Wisconsin (0-3), and Coastal Carolina (1-3)
UNI is 3-3 wins against Milwaukee (3-0) LSU (3-0) Ball State (3-0) and losses to Villanova (2-3), Western Michigan (1-3) and #16 Creighton (1-3)

Big stretch coming up along with the games in College Station this week the upcoming schedule for USU includes a trip down to UVU who looks really good, and a home match against what will likely be a top 5 BYU. Very strong non-conference schedule for the ladies! Depending on how results go they very easily could be ranked by the time conference play starts but take it one game at a time! I'm very excited about the trajectory of volleyball this season!

The real goal is to get enough people at the matches to move them into the Spectrum.

If it was enough to make the Spectrum feel full that would be great, but that's a tall order. If like 3000 people want to go that's a pretty awkward demand since it more than doubles what the Estes can hold, but still feels empty in the Spectrum

I would almost rather have 1500 people packed into the Estes, then 4000 people spread out in the Spectrum.

We were down 9-5, then 13-12. On match point we hit an ace to win it 15-13.

Wilton-Laboy had a serious Mean Mug at the LMU coach/team after that ace. She was not pleased with the challenge (effectively a TO to get LMU ready.)

Very close match. Total points has USU with 1 or 2 total points more than LMU.

Aggies got votes in the poll this week. Good for a ranking of 32.
CSU RV (sept 23 @ home Oct 26 Away)
BYU at 8 (sept 16 @ home)
Texas A&M RV (Sept 7 Away)

well there goes all our momentum. 3-0 loss to TAMU and 3-0 loss to TCU, who has a losing record on the season. We play UNI next, who beat TCU 3-2.

Curious, who else in the conference was picked near the top? I’m curious what the competition field looks like. I wanna say last year it was UNLV, SJSU, and CSU but at least a couple of those programs had their coaches get hired away due to success.

Swept UNI to finish a disappointing road trip on a good note. Hopefully that was just a run of a couple of bad games.

Looks like we play Colorado St on Sep 23rd. They are the other MW teams “receiving votes” in the volleyball rankings. Probably a good game to turn up for! Not sure exactly the standings of how other MW teams are doing in non-con but am guessing that they are the top challengers to our repeat.

That'll be a big home game for sure, it also happens to fall on the same day as our football game vs JMU, so good opportunity to catch both games if you're in town.

They've already announced a sellout for the byu game this weekend, should be a fun atmosphere, wish we could move to the spectrum, maybe in the future we can get those logistics worked out.

Is it not in the Spectrum? I read on here that it was planned for that? Can anyone with credible info confirm?

Ooh yes! I won’t be able to make it out for that, but I hope they get good crowds for both volleyball and football that day.

And of course BYU is huge, they really do need to figure out how to get big/rivalry games into the spectrum. Volleyball has been successful and deserves that kind of support!

It's not in the Spectrum. The team installed a bunch of new replay equipment in the offseason in the Estes Center and transitioned away from their old replay system, so the Spectrum is no longer equipped to host.
