I made a few concepts and brand identities for teams. Got some buzz on twitter, Ryan smith mentioned my Yeti logo on the Pat Mcafee show.

So Utah will potentially have 4 pro teams, Hockey and Basketball, that pretty much run concurrently and Soccer and Baseball that run concurrently.

To me it kind of makes sense to have the Jazz in Salt Lake, with the hockey team in the southern part of the valley, and have Baseball in Salt Lake with Real in the souther part of the valley. I almost feel that they will be competing less for attendance that way.
They also just got a lacrosse team, but that league runs differently.
There's also a pro Ultimate Frisbee team.
Back in our time at USU my cousin was dating a girl who left him for a “pro athlete” as she put it. He was an ultimate frisbee player.

On a side note, a pro disk golf player used to run the surplus store on campus.

I had no clue it existed but I caught them on the Ocho one night.

I LOVE the color scheme on the Stags concept.

Would having an NHL team in Utah enhance more interest in the college teams? I was hearing on the radio when the Minnesota North Stars moved to Dalas, the local interest in hockey jumped tremendously.

While we're talking about sports teams in Salt Lake, one thing that I think would be nice is if UTA ran a shuttle that takes you from Logan to the Frontrunner station in Ogden so you can from there get to SLC. Or if the CVTD ran a shuttle to the Frontrunner station.

As it is, if we live in Cache Valley but want to go to SLC, we have to drive as far as Ogden to get on the Frontrunner. Not having to even do that would be nice.

This would be a good idea. Having a kid at USU that gets used as the airport shuttle service to and from the SLC Airport for his buddies that live out of state, that would be a great help.
My understanding is that will probably never happen. The grade in Sardine is too steep for rail lines. They would have to run it through Valley View. And that would mean that most likely nobody would use it, because it would be much slower than driving. But I remember there was talk at one point about extending the Frontrunner to Brigham City and then having some kind of bus line connecting it to Logan. I'm not sure what ever came of those talks and if that is still a possibility.

I believe the idea was rejected by the voters 25 years ago, not sure about the time but it was rejected.

Are you talking about extending the Frontrunner to Brigham City or Logan? I'm pretty sure that the latter will never happen unless they get funding for a tunnel under the mountains. But according to the article I posted earlier, there is a long-term plan to extend it to Brigham City, although that's probably several decades away in the absolute best-case scenario.

The Salt Lake Utahns. But the Jerseys are just those SL,UT shirts. And to be honest there is no reason this isn't a city connect on any team name in any sport.

In reality it should either be the Utah Raptors or keep it the Coyotes.

Hope they keep it as the Coyotes. It is a cool name with a cool logo. You can say it doesn't make sense, but neither does the "Utah Jazz" and there would be outrage if Utah ever tried to change that name.

I have heard speculation that part of the deal is that Smith cannot keep the coyotes name. The seller gets to retain the rights to the name in case he can bring a team back to Arizona in the future.

Similar when the super sonics left Seattle and became the Thunder.

We aren’t getting the name but we have a lot of coyotes in Utah. It makes more sense than the Jazz.

Jazz note with a puck and hockey stick could look good.

Whatever Smith chooses I tend to gravitate toward consistent branding at least in color scheme. Unfortunately Smith went ugly AF with highlighter yellow..

But like how Washington teams owned by Leonsis are consistent, I think that would be good for Utah at a minimum in color scheme.

It would be cool if all the utah teams went purple. Real could rebrand to be purple too, purple would make a lot of sense with the royal "real" theme anyway.

Those are good. I also don’t mind Bighorns. There aren’t many bighorn sheep around SLC but there are plenty in parts of the state. Especially the desert bighorns further south.

Georgia tech got their sad little feelings hurt so yes it is dead. When does USU play Georgia tech? As a buzz fan I always want them to lose
