For me it all boils down to

Post by FeartheFro » December 1st, 2018, 2:50 pm

How I would feel if Gary were announced as our next head coach. Forget Wisconsin, forget Oregon State. I can only speak as a fan and how I would feel. He literally changed Utah State from one of the worst D1 programs in the nation to being nationally ranked in a span of 5 seasons. Does he have baggage, yes. Would this long time devoted AGGIE fan be happy with the decision, HELL YEAH.

I believe there is an entire thread already on GA. How many separate threads do we have about the coaching change now, 43 and counting?

EDIT: Hey, wait. If this is Jalen, I apologize for being snippy. :)

A GA hire would bring something special back to Utah State I believe. He singlehandedly turned Utah State Football around. Aggie fans would be more excited then ever. BRING GARY HOME!

How would I feel if GA were to be the new HC: hopeful, but scared.
How would I feel if many of the other candidates that are being discussed were to be the new HC: hopeful, but scared.

Gary actually accomplished the feat you mention in the original post in 4 years and not 5.

Making decisions based purely on feelings is a recipe for disaster in this and just about any other situation.....

Agreed. But it should also be noted that decision making with no emotion is also often a recipe for disaster - especially big decisions.

Luckily it's not based purley on feelings. We have GA's body of work at USU to form those feelings, beliefs.

Hiring any coach at this time and in this situation will have a potential for disaster. I would much rather have a coach we have already had than a coach that will either be fired in 3-5 years or have them leave in 2-3 years for a higher paying job.

I also believe that GA is the best choice because he knows how to recruit the way that has worked for us for a decade. In fact it was GA that brought USU that recruiting philosophy. Bringing in a coach from out of state may result in a new recruiting philosophy that does not work here at USU.

Hiring Jay Hill will likely result in his leaving for BYU in a year or two.

GA just makes sense.

I wish people would stop saying that Gary Andersen "single handedly" saved our program (or whatever.)

He had unprecedented support from the administration (Albrecht chiefly) and donors (Laub and Nike.) And had Bobby Wagner too.

I was and still am a huge Andersen fan, but let's calm down with the hyperbole.

You have a funny way of showing that you’re a fan of Andersen. You’ve complained about him for four days now.

I don't think I have complained about him.

But, I don't want him as our next coach! I think it would be a huge mistake. He's tainted in my mind. Let's look forward and not back...

We all know some worship at the altar of St. Gary, please make this the last thread. Hartwell is going to make a decision based on logic. The number of Gary threads will not impact the decision. SMH.

What do you mean “tainted”? Did he pull a Harvey Weinstein or a Jerry Sandusky? That is tainted, but whatever shenanigans occurred in Corvallis, did not amount to criminal activity. So what if he doesn’t have a Temple recommend. He has an Aggie tattoo, which may be better.

Then we shouldn't consider Aranda or Orlando. Our candidate list is getting really small.....

Lol. I hope we keep blowing up Gary threads if it even has a 1 percent chance of helping get him hired. It would be interesting to see a poll gauging just GA interest. He got 54 percent of the other poll vote (last i looked) but id love to see of the votes he didnt get how many are firmly opposed to the idea of him coaching at usu again and how many wouldn't mind but would rather have someone else. It seems only a few are firmly opposed.

Is there an indication, from any real source, that GA is even interested?

I had this friend who constantly thought about the girl who got away - the memory of that girl and the fantasy of what it would be like to be with her consumed him. Time passed and the two found themselves available and they got back together. It was a disaster. After that he was finally able to move on with his life a much happier man.

I think we need to hire Gary so some of us can get over him.
