Over and back
The over and back call has been redeemed! Same was clearly across half court.

Re: Over and back
They’re blaming:
1. No T on Queta for hanging on the rim
2. Missed out of bounds call that led to Weir getting the T
3. No offensive foul on Queta when Bragg flopped and then tried to trip Queta, which ended with him getting his fifth foul

Re: Over and back
It seems like the fans on Facebook and Reddit can't understand that the team that pressed all game long is more likely to commit a foul. I think they deserved quite a few more fouls on the press than they were given.
We got one big lucky call that resulted in a Technical. We benefited a few other times but that was the only erogious call on them that I saw.

Re: Over and back
No kidding. New Mexico forced 24 turnovers, but at the cost of 29 fouls and 45 USU free throws. I don’t think too many were bad calls except for the one where Queta should have been called for traveling.
When is the last time USU shot 45 free throws?

Re: Over and back
Queta got away with hanging on the rim. The refs missed that one. I loved how the other Aggie players that were in the game got in his face and told him to get his $hit together. That's leadership and holding each other accountable.

Re: Over and back
I think Queta got away with hanging on the rim since he would have landed on his collarbone if he let go right away and had to hold on to get his balance so he could let go and land on his feet.

[Queta only traveled because the defender was locking Queta's foot and preventing him from moving. Now maybe you could say that Queta charged first, but that was for sure not a travel]

Re: Over and back
In the game against wyoming yesterday, there were a few dunks by new Mexico that could have been called Ts for hanging on the rim afterward. It's such a stupid rule. Just let the kids have some fun.

Re: Over and back
Brito's corner 3 that gave us the 4 point lead was so huge, but the 30 second time-out that preceded it was just plain good coaching. I'm sure there was something drawn up for Sam, but the main focus of that time out was to make sure we got a good shot. Sam didn't have it...but made the pass to Brito. Play of the game when I look back at things.

Re: Over and back
Intentional tripping should have been a technical anyway. He pinned Quetas leg between his feet and it could have been very dangerous for a long-legged big man holding his ankle like that.

1. Over and back or ten second call ( Sam clearly made it over and then it was poked away)
2. The call they wanted Quetta traveling on should have been an intentional tripping foul on NM watch the replay should have gotten foul and the ball (Grayson Allen Special)
3. Several more fouls on their press that could have been called.
I would also say as being the underdog the last several years the refs don’t ever call the game to favor the underdog, as the underdog you gotta work through that. If you wanna get better calls in the tournament win more games in the regular season.

Re: Over and back
The reason the foul discrepancy was so lopsided was by the pressure NM was putting on the aggies. They were pressing and swiping for the ball out of our hands the whole night 3-4 times per possession. We don't press, but play good man defense and don't swipe, but maybe once or twice per possession.
Re: Over and back
I totally agree with you. Bad calls both ways, that’s just how the game goes. And none of the calls they listed were late enough to actually say they cost the Lobos the game. I was just relaying what I was seeing from UNM fans.nswaggie wrote: ↑March 14th, 2019, 11:24 pmBad calls on both sides:Blue42 wrote: ↑March 14th, 2019, 10:41 pmThey’re blaming:

Re: Over and back
UNM fans can complain all they want. Fact is, they couldn't extend their 2 point lead with 8 minutes left while the conference POY went out in foul trouble. This loss is on their team.
That being said, I really like Weir as a coach. He keeps his head on and I just love the sweaters. Plus I don't want to see his teeth kicked in like Musselman. I hope UNM picks it up next year.

Re: Over and back
We would be doing the same thing if we had lost. It is just part of being a fan. UNM gave us a fight. Kudos to their team. I can't really call out the refs too much. They missed some easy stuff, but it was a helter skelter game. Those are always hard to officiate.

Re: Over and back
I don't understand how people thought he traveled when the Lobo wrapped his legs around Queta to trip him. It was obvious live and during the replay.dogie wrote: ↑March 14th, 2019, 10:44 pmNo kidding. New Mexico forced 24 turnovers, but at the cost of 29 fouls and 45 USU free throws. Re: Over and back
The reffing was bad and if they think it cost anyone the game that's stupid. What cost them the game relating to reffing was their coach over reacted to it and ours stayed level headed. Game difference right there.

Re: Over and back
I thought the same until I saw the replay on the video board in the arena and realized that he hung an extra 2-3 seconds so he could stare into the camera on the floor for showmanship. He was hot dogging it and probably should've been called for the tech. He played to the cameras a few times last night.GameFAQSAggie wrote: ↑March 14th, 2019, 10:48 pmI think Queta got away with hanging on the rim since he would have landed on his collarbone if he let go right away and had to hold on to get his balance so he could let go and land on his feet.
I love that about him. As long as it doesn't get called.
