We ALWAYS miss field goals in that situation
It seems like no matter how good our kickers do at other points in the year with field goals that don't matter cause of the score, we ALWAYS miss in that situation. Nice to FINALLY make it in that situation for once.

This was my reaction to it as well. I thought to myself, when have we last won a game on a time expiring field goal? Wisconsin came back large for me right before the kick

I left the room. I couldn't take it. I knew he nailed it when my wife started to cheer.

Honestly, I wouldn’t have been surprised to see a seagull knock the ball out of the air just before the uprights.....

1998. Brad Bohm vs North Texas. It’s been awhile to say the least.sam tingey wrote: ↑November 9th, 2019, 8:58 pmThis was my reaction to it as well. I thought to myself, when have we last won a game on a time expiring field goal? Wisconsin came back large for me right before the kick

I really am getting weak. I can't take it anymore. I am very superstitious too. I did enjoy the Mt. Dew that I got from the fridge. A worthy victory celebration.

Beyond Wisconsin, think Arkansas State and New Mexico.sam tingey wrote: ↑November 9th, 2019, 8:58 pmThis was my reaction to it as well. I thought to myself, when have we last won a game on a time expiring field goal? Wisconsin came back large for me right before the kick

Re: We ALWAYS miss field goals in that situation
Funny enough it was a Fresno FG for the win that got us GA the 1st time.
If Brent Guy beats Fresno there with a 5 win season no way he gets fired.

It was 58. And cleared with enough room to be good from 65.

Re: We ALWAYS miss field goals in that situation
Awesome job by Eberle and the snapper/holder. This was one was on the most satisfying wins in a long time for me. The way the team has played the last 2 weeks for them to go on the road in a very tough place to win was just awesome. To do it with a walk off field goal was cherry on the top.

Re: We ALWAYS miss field goals in that situation
Having a guy like Eberle is just a game changer.
We don’t win tonight against Fresneck without him and I think the CSU game could have gone south if he didn’t hit that 50 yarder in the monsoon with the bad snap to go up 24-21.

We also can't take the protection for granted, I certainly don't after having been at Arkansas State firsthand. And protection is all the tougher in that situation with the desperation blocks.

Brandon Pada/Aaron Dalton. Our long snapping has been outstanding for years and years going back at least to Pat Scales in the early '10s, who's still earning an NFL living with the Bears.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑November 9th, 2019, 10:00 pmAwesome job by Eberle and the snapper/holder. Re: We ALWAYS miss field goals in that situation
I too had thoughts of the Wisconsin game. I was watching the Wisconsin game at a restaurant in Park City. I think I was the only Aggie fan and when he missed the field goal all Ute fans started cheering. That is one of many reasons as to why I can't stand the Utes and their fans! It is so great to finally make a game winning field goal! Awesome job on clock management and ball placement. Great job field goal team and go Aggies!sam tingey wrote: ↑November 9th, 2019, 8:58 pmThis was my reaction to it as well. D. Eberle kicking a field goal and destroying a poor bird a la Randy Johnson fastball. That would be a sight to see.

That would also be the ultimate heartbreak. We would see that clip for decades and be reminded of our Aggie luck.

Re: We ALWAYS miss field goals in that situation
You know what? I'm going to give GA credit for that. Here's why, GA had the best sideline demeanor I've seen. (at least when the camera found him) He stayed positive, the team felt that positive vibe, they stayed composed.....Like Gary.
This could have been the end of our season. Gary didn't get caught up didn't show our kids the pressure, the doubts.
Great job coach. Bigtime.

On that last field goal I probably would have left 7-8 seconds rather than 2. If it’s a bad snap or something I just down it and you still have time to try again. As it was with only 2 tics left, you have to execute perfectly. Luckily we did. On the other hand, you do run the risk of leaving 2-3 seconds on the clock and have to kick off again if you make it. It isn’t a walk off win.
