SNF - “Bobby Wagner - Ontario, California”
SNF - “Bobby Wagner - Ontario, California”
Did anyone catch this? He normally says “The Utah State University” but he changed it up and said Ontario, California instead. I’m assuming it means nothing, but thought it was interesting.
Does anyone know if he stays involved much with USU in any capacity?

NBD - lots of players occasionally call out their hometown rather than college.

Bobby has been, and is, very supportive of USU.
Don't take it as a sign he doesn't love USU, but that he also loves other places he comes from. People can love many things.

Another guy stated his elementary school. I’m sure he’s just mixing it up.

Re: SNF - “Bobby Wagner - Ontario, California”
Why would someone say Bobby Wagner’s elementary school?

Maybe because the game was in LA, he wanted to give a shoutout to his hometown, Ontario. No worries

That makes sense, every time I've heard him it's been Utah State

In Seattle's Monday night game a couple weeks ago against my Vikes, the analyst referred to Bobby Wagner as a potential future Hall-of-Famer.

Re: SNF - “Bobby Wagner - Ontario, California”
I think he'll be a first-ballot hall-of-famer. The only LB of his era that's comparable is Luke Keuchly. Both Wags and Keuchly started the same year and their stats are eerily similar. But I would argue that Wagner has to play better than Keuchly to get the same stats because Wagner's entire team has been better. In other words, total tackles is misleading. Percentage of total tackles would be a better stat. Meaning how many snaps did your Defense play and what percentage of the total snaps ended with a tackle by a given player?
Opponent snaps/game:
Year Car Sea
2012 63.1 60.2
2013 61.2 61.9
2014 61.0 58.8
2015 65.2 59.3
2016 64.7 63.3
2017 59.4 65.3
2018 59.3 60.2
Avg 62.0 61.3
What does that 0.7 snaps defended mean? It means that since 2012 Carolina has had a total of 78.4 MORE snaps they had to defend than Seattle. That's 78.4 more plays for Keuchly than Wags.
Since 2012, Seattle's defensive snaps ended with a Bobby Wagner tackle 16.16% of the time. Carolina's defensive snaps ended with a Keuchly tackle 15.71% of the time.
None of these figures take into account playoff games. I'm also not factoring in the snaps missed for injury - but Keuchly and Wagner have played the same number of games, basically both their numbers would be slightly higher if you accounted for the defensive snaps they didn't play since 2012.
Keuchly is amazing, but I think Bobby is better. But I'm probably biased.
