Re: Bean
Coach Smith mentioned he is dealing with an injury. It was awesome to give him the rest. The week off will do wonders for him.

Re: Bean
I've heard broadcasters and Coach Smith himself say that the coaching staff has been telling Bean to shoot more open 3's. They believe he can be a threat from the 3 point line. I say keep shooting them! If teams have to respect him from there, it would open things up even more for us.deltaaggie wrote: ↑January 14th, 2020, 8:55 amI couldn't believe it when I saw him hit that 3. It was glorious!

Re: Bean
True. But that hitch is his shot just has bad news written all over it. Similar to Miller's step-back 3.SweepDance wrote: ↑January 14th, 2020, 10:45 amHe can't shoot it much worse than the other guys right now.

Re: Bean
Have you seen Steph Curry’s shot? Starts at the waist , and goes right up in front of his face. If you want an aesthetic jump shot look at the GS Warrior’s Thompson. Just saying that jump shots are measured by %. > 40% = good, and less than 35% is not good.

Re: Bean
This. If we’re talking set shots without a guy right in your face, the kind of threes Taylor got last year and Bean gets this year, I’ve never understood the shot doctors who want to change a guy’s shot this late in the game. If Bean is going to tweak his shot it will take hours and hours of repetition in the off season. Right now his shot is his shot. If he shoots in rhythm with confidence it doesn’t matter if it’s ugly (Bill Cartwright cough, cough) he can either make it or he can’t. Kevin Durant starts his shot with the ball on the left side of his head and does a windshield wiper move back to the right as he’s releasing.bullshot wrote: ↑January 14th, 2020, 1:42 pmHave you seen Steph Curry’s shot? Re: Bean
Wow. Steph Curry, Kevin Durant? Bean’s shot is completely broken and unless he’s wide open he isn’t getting it off.
I love Bean. I like his game, but he belongs ten feet and in.

Re: Bean
For now. But he puts himself all out there when he's playing... I love that passion. Hopefully in the off-season he pulls a Jaycee Carroll and spends time shooting an obscene amount. With his nose for the ball, physicality, and some great shooting, he'd have a nice post-collegiate career.

Re: Bean
But you can’t always have him and Queta on the floor both within 10 ft of the basket. It messes with the spacing. And I don’t think anyone is arguing for Bean to become a volume three point shooter. Just 1-3 attempts per game when he is wide open.

Re: Bean
Anyone remember Jamaal Wilkes for the Lakers? That was not textbook shooting form. Shawn Marion is another one that comes to mind as an example poor form.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑January 14th, 2020, 7:33 pmThis. Re: Bean
1-3 3PA/game for Bean "when he is wide open?" I'm more in the 0.25 attempts camp for Bean, and only when the shot clock means that there are no other options. If the Aggies are going to play 4-out with Bean on the court, he needs to be a cutting/slashing perimeter player, not a 3-point shooting perimeter player -- unless and until he starts knocking down 6-out-of-10 with some regularity in practice. Indeed, no player should be shooting 3s with any regularity in games unless and until they can knock down 6-out-of-10 with some regularity in practice. That should be the standard for every player.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑January 15th, 2020, 9:52 amBut you can’t always have him and Queta on the floor both within 10 ft of the basket. Re: Bean
Was it just me or did his form look a lot better in the video. Seemed to not have as bad of a hitch. In the games this year, he has had a pretty bad hitch. Even announcers comment how ugly it was after he shoots. I don't care as long as he makes the shots, but seemed to be making them shooting normal in the video.

If he was able to do it in 2017 he should be able to do it again. Can you imagine what would happen if Bean could regularly shoot 35% plus from behind the arc?Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑January 15th, 2020, 2:18 pmIt did. But that was also 2017.ThunderAggie wrote: ↑January 15th, 2020, 2:16 pm

Re: Bean
I love Bean. He's put up incredible numbers. He's an underdog kind of guy. Carried the team in a few gut check games.
But, it looks like MW teams have figured out how to attack him. I wish there were plus / minus stats for the Aggies like there are for the pro teams and maybe it would be clear, but I can't find that stat. So what I'm saying is that he's getting rebounds and loose balls and scoring a little putting up numbers, but he's been getting torched when he's playing defense and the Aggies are playing 4 on 5 when they are on offense because he's no threat to score. The other team just ignores him. Like I said it would be nice if we could see the plus/minus for Bean in each of the last 4 games. I'm sure Smith has those numbers.
He could be injured and that's the reason for his problems. When he does play, I hope he has a monster game to prove me wrong, but we have Q back now and against Nevada, Smith settled in with Q and a couple of other guys taking Bean's minutes. Gotta figure there's a reason for that.

Re: Bean
Bean has been dealing with a severe high ankle sprain. It affects his ability to jump as well as he has in the past. Once the sprain improves, he'll get his allotment of rebounds whether Queta is in or not.

Re: Bean
I imagine that is a more difficult injury to deal with when you are undersized and rely on your athleticism more.
