Re: Spring Game?
The notion that the athletic department should not try and cater to their fan base is just silly. Going to Aggie athletic events is supposed to be a fun thing to do. While I will attend no matter the situation I for sure see why the athletic department is going to cater to their highest fan base demographic (LDS population). Whether you agree with it or not until that demographic shifts drastically to another demographic they will do similar things. Do I necessarily agree with it no, but I can understand why they would. Now not scheduling it on Saturday because of Easter just seems silly to me, but whatever I guess.

Re: Spring Game?
You got most of it however as far as kids to games go I took my kids to aggie games when they were old enough to go watch the game. They had a choice of other fun things to do on Saturday besides going to game, so when they went their focus was on the event. To take a kid that has no interest in the game is not a good thing for the child or those fans around you. I do not "hate kids" I might dislike those that force them to go to events they do not want to be at, Same thing with movies. I thought I was explaining how others might have trouble because of their religious belief by having a scrimmage on Easter week. I also said I understand why USU schedules around religious eventsususports wrote: ↑February 13th, 2020, 5:11 pmSo to summarize your multiple posts in this thread (and others), people should not allow their religious beliefs to keep them from attending any Aggie sporting activity (in your words--that is what it takes to be a true Aggie fan), but you can skip the spring game because someone might bring a toddler who could potentially annoy you (because you have made it clear many times in the past that you hate all kids who can't sit through a four hour football game with their arms folded and head bowed the entire time), and yet, you constantly pat yourself on the back for how loyal you are? I think I captured it all, but let me know if I missed anything in my summary.oleblu111 wrote: ↑February 13th, 2020, 4:50 pmPerhaps the answer is given that USU is not owned by any religion we should schedule games or spring scrimmages when ever it needs to happen, on conference weekend, Easter or pass over, basketball on Sundays or when ever. I promise not to complain. However I do understand why they try to work around religious dates when ever possible.USU78 wrote: ↑February 13th, 2020, 4:02 pmWell, there are the Jewish players and their families ...NavyBlueAggie wrote: ↑February 12th, 2020, 4:56 pmEaster is observed on Sunday 12 April, 2020. Can't sort out why a Saturday noon to afternoon event would impact any local Sunday event. I see the reasoning of a Saturday afternoon spring game conflicting with Sunday as unreasonable.
I most likely will not attend this years scrimmage given I find them rather boring, and it is just a excuse for people to bring their kids because of the cost, so the whole thing is a non issue, but I did need to point out that others have different dates that are not great because of their different religion.
I have gone to USU football for many years even the very bad times, giving donations, and buying tickets, raising money thru fund drives in a effort to get it better. I'm not a true aggie because I never went to school at USU, my college experience was not in Logan. I do not think that makes me a true aggie I does perhaps make me a fool to care when those that did go to school here did so little to make it better. I do not attend spring scrimmages because they are not real games, and to be honest kind of boring.
I have been invited to go back to my school to watch football, but even If I do I will still attend some Aggie games, and give some money. The atmosphere at my school is much different than what it is at USU, so I will get this best of both going forward.

While the athletic department can surely improve on how they increase local fan support. To say that they are poorly ran I think is not accurate in terms of what they do with our budget. And running a good program from that perspective They do a fantastic job. Product that we get on the basketball court and football field with the resources we have is actually pretty damn good.

Re: Spring Game?
I truly believe that we need to stop relying on the AD or school or coaches to sell the program. In the end, we are the stewards of this program. If we want better then we need to get as many people to events as possible. We need to donate what we can and work to get other donors. Our program is so reliant on the student fees and the conference TV deal. That is why we don't have a huge voice. If we want better we need to do better. USU is still around because of the work of many faithful fans. USU can thrive if we can get more of those faithful fans.

Re: Spring Game?
I was going to leave work early that day and go up to the game and then yesterday my boss sent an email stating we have a mandatory off-site planning meeting that day that I have to attend. She chaps me off.

If you were a true Aggie fan, you would quit your job, leave your religion, load 10 screaming toddlers in your car, and come to the game no matter what day of the week it is. Never mind, it’s going to boring.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑February 21st, 2020, 6:41 pmI was going to leave work early that day and go up to the game and then yesterday my boss sent an email stating we have a mandatory off-site planning meeting that day that I have to attend. You forgot to say as a true aggie fan I will come only if it is free. Sometimes the truth hurts right. By the way you funny.ususports wrote: ↑February 21st, 2020, 8:14 pmIf you were a true Aggie fan, you would quit your job, leave your religion, load 10 screaming toddlers in your car, and come to the game no matter what day of the week it is. Re: Spring Game?
USU just cancelled all on-campus events through April 8. If this get's extended at all then the Spring Game may not happen. Other universities have already cancelled their spring games.

Well, with it being a Thursday night, I'm not sure a lot of people were going to be there anyway.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑March 11th, 2020, 3:45 pmUSU just cancelled all on-campus events through April 8.
