Re: Steven Ashworth
He's been absolutely unreal this season. I had high expectations for him and they've been exceeded.

USU v. (Stay Moral Go) Oral Roberts
What a game from Ashworth!
We need Bairstow to figure out his (I can't express myself without swearing) real quick, or I’d like to see him out of the rotation.

those 10 points were incredible to put us in a great position to win. Funk had a night as well. Too bad he had the one miss from 3

Little scoring and a lot of fouls and turnovers will do that.slcagg wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2022, 9:01 pmHe had a great first game but since hasn’t. Seems to have lost some confidence.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2022, 8:57 pmWhat a game from Ashworth!

Re: Steven Ashworth
Shulga and Bairstow had 9 turnovers between them . Ouch. Good think Funk can shoot the hell out of the ball because he was exposed on D tonight.

The difference being that Shulga made up for his TO’s with rebounding and a little scoring. Baitstow not so much.

Re: Steven Ashworth
A lot of Max's turn overs are from team mates not expecting the pass. Shulga likes to pass the ball, (7 assists tonight), if the team isn't looking for it then it turns into a turn over. Not that all passes are good passes, but he will distribute and pass. Team has to be ready.
Re: Steven Ashworth
He scored 10 straight unanswered points in 79 seconds in only three possessions!sam tingey wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2022, 8:59 pmthose 10 points were incredible to put us in a great position to win. Funk had a night as well. Too bad he had the one miss from 3

Re: Steven Ashworth
bairstow probably turns a corner when we play westminster. He needs to play against some really bad competition to get his mojo back. I think he'll be fine by conference play.

Shulga also had 7 assists and double digit rebounds/points. Bairstow is in a funk, hopefully he can he get out of it.

Re: Steven Ashworth
Steven is averaging 28 mpg and Rylan is averaging 21. Lineups are more than just “who’s starting”. Most of the time it is about exploiting matchups. Steven and Dan are killing other team’s bench and are playing a majority of the minutes.

Re: Steven Ashworth
Ashworth currently has a "True Shooting %" of 80%, which is just absurd. When you factor in he's a 6'0" guard averaging 19 ppg that 80% number becomes absolutely mind blowing right now.

I love Ashworth and Dan coming off the bench. They provide so much energy and a huge spark. Jones is also playing really well which is awesome to see.

Perhaps always having a couple of scoring options in the game helps reduce offensive droughts. Maybe Odom is just balancing the minutes accordingly.

Re: Steven Ashworth
Ashworth is technically 13th nationally in TS%, but he has taken 48 shots and no one in front of him has taken more than 39 shots. He has taken the most shots per game of anyone in the top 25.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑November 23rd, 2022, 7:50 amAshworth currently has a "True Shooting %" of 80%, which is just absurd. Similarly, he's also 13th nationally in 3PT%, but almost everyone ahead of him is a much lower volume shooter. With 36 attempts, he's tied for the most attempts of anyone in the top 30.
Ashworth is 4th nationally in 3 pointers made, with the three guys in front of him having all taken at least 10 more shots.
He has quite arguably been the best shooter in the country at this (very) early juncture. The only argument against him would be strength of schedule.

Re: USU v. (Stay Moral Go) Oral Roberts
I think we're seeing the player Bairstow is. He has been basically this same player the entire time he's been here. I don't expect some magic turnaround. He shows flashes of some athleticism and hits some shots here and there, but he isn't going to be a guy that will take over a game and score in bunches. The coaches have to find a way to put him in a position to help the team. And Bairstow needs to keep himself out of positions that will hurt the team and stay under control. He's a 7 ppg role player. We shouldn't expect him to be more than that.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2022, 8:57 pmWhat a game from Ashworth!

Re: USU v. (Stay Moral Go) Oral Roberts
I’ll gratefully live with the 7 ppg from Bairstow. But it’s his turnovers, fouls and defensive lapses that have me questioning his value. But what is the alternative? More minutes for RJ? As poorly as Bairstow is playing I’ll take him over RJ if for his length if nothing else.Yossarian wrote: ↑November 23rd, 2022, 10:03 amI think we're seeing the player Bairstow is. I don't disagree with this. Bairstow does have value - on both ends of the court. I just don't think he is a budding bulk scorer that is going to suddenly blossom this season like some on here seen to be expecting (or hoping). We know who he is.utaggies wrote: ↑November 23rd, 2022, 11:38 amI’ll gratefully live with the 7 ppg from Bairstow. Bairstow’s “bulk scoring” all came during the first 90 seconds of the second half.Yossarian wrote: ↑November 23rd, 2022, 11:44 amI don't disagree with this. Just like clockwork, the zoobies on their board are trying to figure out why Ashworth isn't playing for them.

Re: Steven Ashworth
A question? I believe Ashworth should be a junior this year. Will he get a covid year back so he will have two years remaining?
Thanks

Ive said it before and I'll say it again. Sean Bairstow is like Daunte Exum with the jazz. Load of potential but never quite living up to it consistently. I hope he does turn it around though.Yossarian wrote: ↑November 23rd, 2022, 10:03 amI think we're seeing the player Bairstow is. He has been basically this same player the entire time he's been here.
