MWC Tournament Madness

I predict we play Wyoming in the Conference Quarterfinals. New Mexico has struggled against Wyoming all year. I also believe, UNLV/Air Force will not be an easy win for Boise State. I predict Air Force beating UNLV and keeping it close against Boise. I like our seeding and where we stand!

I would think San Jose was probably preferring to play us instead of Nevada. They have been beaten soundly by Nevada both times and don't match up with them very well. Having said that, Omari Moore absolutely put his team on his back the second half yesterday and that block he made at the end made ESPN's top plays of the day (#4).

The announcer in the SDSU/Wyoming game last night was predicting a New Mexico conference tournament championship.

Hope I’m not hijacking this thread and maybe I missed it in other thread but why are we the 3 seed and not the 2?

After head-to-head the next tie breaker is the best record against the top team in the standings. Boise beat SDSU, we didn’t.

interesting we have the lower % chance in the semis to advance of the top 4.

That’s because kenpom sees New Mexico as by far the toughest quarterfinal opponent.

I don’t know if his numbers factor in rest, but I’d rather play UNM on a back-to-back than a rested SJSU.

Agree, NM scares me from the offensive side since they have 2 dynamic scorers. That being said from a defensive standpoint I think the Aggies matchup better with NM. House and Mashburn are similar to size to Shulga and Ashworth which helps. NM does also not have huge depth so catching them on a back to back gives an advantage later in the game. SJSU has a big team. Moore is mismatch nightmare for our guys. Diallo down low is a very good rim defender and makes it hard to score around the rim. Add in the fact that NM will a borderline Q1 game win or lose the downside of losing is a lot less with NM.

Thanks, ESPN just showed us as ranked #2 so I was confused.
