Great read 22.
How could we possibly have been recruiting all those guys without the board knowing, and properly vetting them?
Inconceivable

THe big question is who is this mystery recruit you mentioned on your site that visited last weekend, his offer list is really intriguing? You had Great Osobor as cool on USU. Do you think he comes here or signs elsewhere?aggies22 wrote: ↑April 21st, 2023, 12:30 pmThanks for checking this out guys!

Very interesting mystery recruit. Seems like would be a great get. Hopefully we start hearing of some further commits soon

This guy fits all the criteria! A lot of similar offers and a freshman guard!

Re: 2023 USU Hoops Offers
I think you’re right with Calmese. The weight listed on ESPN and 4 years to play 3. Estrada I believe only has 1 year.

Re: 2023 USU Hoops Offers
Nice info 22. Nice detective work Thunder. So, I'm sure there are more players in the picture than just these, but if we can land a few of these guys, I'd think the roster could look something like this.
PG - Brown, Calmese. We likely need 2 pg's now that Jones is gone unless Falslev ends up as a pg. I don't see us signing both Ford and Brown as they both have 1 year of eligibility left. If Calmese commits but Brown goes elsewhere, I could see us taking Ford. Would really love to have Brown and Calmese.
SG - Dawson Baker, Mason Falslev, and Phelps. We need Baker and I hope he can see the role he'd play. Mason and Garrison both have bright upsides.
SF - Hamoda, Naivalurua, D. Grant. I don't see us landing Battle though one can dream. Burris may play at this spot as well.
PF - Burris, Osobor, J. Grant. Positions are fluid between the PF/C positions. We probably only carry 5 of these 6 I have listed as PF/C due to scholarship restrictions unless we don't get Buru and Burris plays more SF. Or someone agrees to be a walk-on.
C- Johnson, Spurgin, Sakho. Johnson likely to play some stretch 4 I'd guess.
I think this would be a pretty competitive team.

Isaac Johnson is more of a Horvath type on the offensive end.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑April 21st, 2023, 2:10 pmNice info 22. Nice detective work Thunder. I figured that Johnson was a 4 on offense and a 5 on defense.aggies22 wrote: ↑April 21st, 2023, 2:15 pmIsaac Johnson is more of a Horvath type on the offensive end.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑April 21st, 2023, 2:10 pmNice info 22. I won't loose any sleep over Dorius not being back, but it'd nice to have a 7 foot bruiser like him coming off the bench with this group. A lot of the bigs look like finesse players.

Do we know if anyone from Sprinkle's staff has been in contact with Roddie Anderson?

Re: 2023 USU Hoops Offers
Nothing wrong with that. The coaches have a very short time period to establish a relationship and get a commit with transfers. They should cast as wide of a net as possible. If we bat 20-30 percent in the portal that would be a success.

Re: 2023 USU Hoops Offers
Being turned down by a lot of guys likely means we have contacted a lot of guys, including some that previous staffs might have assumed would not be interested and not bothered with.

Re: 2023 USU Hoops Offers
If they're the right 20 - 30% getting guys just to get guys because you cast a wide net isn't really helpful.GoldcoastAggie wrote: ↑April 21st, 2023, 5:30 pmNothing wrong with that. Re: 2023 USU Hoops Offers
I'd disagree. Its not just to get guys. There are plenty of players out there that can be great gets, just because we go after more of them doesn't mean we are doing it just because they are warm bodies. The strategy with high school guys used to be to find diamonds in rough or to get in early and be the first to offer with local guys. That strategy doesn't work with transfers.Yossarian wrote: ↑April 21st, 2023, 6:12 pmIf they're the right 20 - 30% getting guys just to get guys because you cast a wide net isn't really helpful.GoldcoastAggie wrote: ↑April 21st, 2023, 5:30 pmNothing wrong with that. Most of those were turned down in the previous staff. The Wyoming kid decommitted from them a while back ago. In fact most of those kids signed a letter of intent in November.

They also could be available again in a year or 2. Wide net makes more sense than ever.

Why are we wasting time at an AAU tournament? Any good freshman we bring in will be gone in a year.
