Re: Sabau ghosted KSL sports zone at 1:30
I can imagine her office is going crazy with wheeling and dealing and figuring stuff out. While I'd love her to have a minute to get on a talk show, I'd much rather she were working through all this stuff to get us our coach. Something happened, and she's fixing the problem instead of getting on a radio show. That makes sense in my book.

She’s Busch League and if you can’t see that her time here at USU has not been good, I can’t help you.

Good news is we should get to here her speak in about 5 minutes and hopefully get some answers! Until then I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt with everything on her plate

"I want to thank Danny for the hard work and the incredible season we had and wish him the best of luck at Washington"
"My phone has been ringing off the hook"
"We want to find a coach who wants to be here because this is a special place"
Any other guesses as to what we learn in this interview??

Sabau might want to announce the hire on the radio and the USU fax machine broke and they're having trouble getting a contract signed.

Unless an assistant leaked via text. In which case, silence makes complete sense in this game of thrones.browntown wrote: ↑March 29th, 2024, 2:21 pmHonestly I don’t think anyone would be mad if she canceled today or pushed it back or anything, it’s the silent crickets that worried me. I think we all understand and guess that she is SUPER busy with a ton of stuff the past couple days, but a text or having an assistant communicate that they have to change time would be appreciated.shoresy wrote: ↑March 29th, 2024, 2:15 pmPretty much how I feel. She's on now. Saying they're working on retaining the locker room and only one returning player had entered the portal. Said not everybody who went through the portal had a good experience doing it. Some players were surprised that Danny left. She met with the team and remaining coaches for 90 mins on Wednesday about what they want to happen.

She says she's proactive and never wants to be caught flat footed. Says Danny succeeding is good for utah state.
Wants a coach that can play mwc style offense and defense then went on about how important defense is. I think that confirms she reads USUfans.

Why the (I can't express myself without swearing) does diversity matter ??? I just want people who (I can't express myself without swearing) win, I don’t give care if they age green, yellow, or purple.

Re: Sabau ghosted KSL sports zone at 1:30
Pillars in finding a new coach
1. MW style of offense and defense
2. Get to the tournament and not be an 8 seed
3. What student athletes need in a modern coach (roster preservation and community involvement) to sustain winning
4. Look at diversity and try to have a coaching staff that mirrors their roster makeup

Q: Who is helping you with the process?
A: I believe in concensus and a democratic process but this is a tight cricle. We have a committee, same one for men's and women's hire. We make sure the student athletes are well represented.

Re: Sabau ghosted KSL sports zone at 1:30
If players are saying hey there's a bunch of white guys coaching and I don't feel like they get what we are going through and we want some people who have some shared experience growing up as a POC, then great. I'm fine with them looking to address that weakness on our staff. Especially since these coaches are mentors to students as much as X and O managers.SLB wrote:She said those exact words.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑March 29th, 2024, 2:40 pmI may have misheard but I believe she just said the coaching staff diversity didn't match what was on the roster. She mentioned how whether or not you use a search firm, the key is to do a lot of research. She didn't feel it necessary because of the vast pool of connections she has with other programs, coaches (college and NBA), AD's, etc. across the country.

Timeline: hoping early next week middle of the week to make announcements that make logan proud and carry the state media for a bit. Again emphasized they are trying to retain the roster.

As she was listing out various factors they’re looking for in a coach she said one of those was a coach that had a diverse coaching staff to match the diversity of rosters in this sport, which we didn’t really have before.SLB wrote: ↑March 29th, 2024, 2:42 pmShe said those exact words.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑March 29th, 2024, 2:40 pmI may have misheard but I believe she just said the coaching staff diversity didn't match what was on the roster. Agreed. Want talented kids from outside of utah to play at USU? Have coaches who have roots in those places with experiences that match who can go into those homes and lay out here is what I do and why I can understand you and help you.Roy McAvoy wrote:As she was listing out various factors they’re looking for in a coach she said one of those was a coach that had a diverse coaching staff to match the diversity of rosters in this sport, which we didn’t really have before.SLB wrote: ↑March 29th, 2024, 2:42 pmShe said those exact words.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑March 29th, 2024, 2:40 pmI may have misheard but I believe she just said the coaching staff diversity didn't match what was on the roster.
