Those who bash Templin would have cut Justin Bean, Abel Porter, Max Shulga, Isaac Johnson, Mason Falslev, and etc.

Re: Our new PG
Bad comparison. Almost all of those players developed at much older ages than Templin currently is, except for Shulga. Everyone else benefited from redshirt years and/missions.
No one is saying to cut Templin, just that he shouldn’t start next year. Templin would benefit greatly from a redshirt year but likely will be needed to backup the 4 spot, he will not be a starter next year though

Back to Albury, super impressive highlight tape. Different style of game from Brown for sure, he can get to the hoop against anyone and has way more length. If he can keep his shooting numbers up he will be a great scorer for us

Re: Our new PG
I like Albury's game a lot! He is explosive and plays dowhill. He will score more than Darius and we won't have to rely on a player like Great to score as much. My prediction is that Albury and Falslev will be a dynamic duo and lead the team in scoring.MetsJetsAggies wrote: ↑April 14th, 2024, 7:13 pmBean was like 2-3 years older as a Sophomore than Templin is about to beSLB wrote: ↑April 14th, 2024, 7:07 pmDo you want to recreate that Justin Bean threadRoy McAvoy wrote: ↑April 14th, 2024, 6:42 pmI’ll bet Templin is recruited over as a starter in the transfer market.SLB wrote: ↑April 14th, 2024, 6:28 pmCurrent projected starting 5 per 30 23-24 stats

As far as Templin, I wouldn't plan on him starting. Sprinkle should have redshirted him. He is still so young. If I recall he doesn't even turn 19 until this summer. He will be a key player for us this next year and will make a huge jump from his Freshman year. I believe SLB is onto something and Templin could be special, but don't set his expectations to high for next year.

And just for future reference in 3 years when you talk about being the only one who believed in Templin. Nobody doesn’t believe in Templin, and many others have high hopes for him.
I’m simply predicting in 2024 an upperclassman transfer is brought in to replace Great and starts over Templin next year.
I really like Templin & his grit though.
Now back to Deyton, we can all agree we’re really excited about this kid. I love that he’s our PG next year. He seems to be more of a score first PG, which I’m sure will be worked on, but also we likely need the playmaking if Great is going to be gone.
Remember how stagnant the offense was when Great went to the bench? I think the coaches recognized we needed a PG with some real offensive talent over being a pass first guy per say. I like him more than the Stetson kid too.

Re: Our new PG
Honestly SLB, is it even remotely possible for someone not to agree with everything you say 100% without throwing a hissy fit and dredging up (I can't express myself without swearing) from year's past? General consensus is Templin is a nice player who could develop into a really good player but MAYBE, JUST MAYBE not be ready to start on a team that can compete for another league title? What is so wrong about that opinion?

I put myself out there in backing Brito, Bean, and Shulga while some or most depending on the player attacked those players and myself. I project that next season that Templin will get 15 points per game while being the top rebounder in the MWC.

Our new PG
Albury is a dynamic playmaker. I only hope he is equally good in the locker room and team chemistry wise. I’m not saying he won’t, but in order to recreate last year’s magic he also needs to fit in with the team. Crossing my fingers.

Re: Our new PG
Bringing in a solid PG is probably one of the top few things that Great is looking for in staying here. If we picked up a chump then he was definitely gone. Not saying he stays now, but you had to get a solid PG in order to get the other players to want to stick around. We all know that Great wouldn’t be the player he was if it weren’t for Darius Brown.
